Photography Student of the Month: November 2016 – Lizzie Hannaway
Hello Photoion fans, today we’ve got another Student of the Month interview for you. Each month we select a student who has shown the most growth or promise and we sit down with them to learn about their journey in photography. They also get a £50 voucher to be used on any of our courses.
This month we sat down with Lizzie Hannaway to learn about their photographic path.
‘Photography for me started out as a casual hobby; I enjoyed trying to capture portraits and scenes, but I just had a point and shoot and camera.
It was last year that I decided to purchase a DSLR and to take photography more seriously and see where I could go with it. I spent a long time learning through trial and error, and making reasonable progress, but most of the good pictures that I captured were due to luck and I wanted to become more consistent.
So, a few months ago I decided that I wanted to make a lot more of this and upgraded my camera to a full frame DSLR as well as signing up to courses with Photoion photography school. Since then, my skills and confidence have been boosted and my enjoyment of the art has soared.
I love being able to capture a moment in time, whether that’s in the shape of a portrait or a moment in a changing landscape. In the words of Dorothea Lange, “photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still” – the words may not be mine, but the sentiment certainly is.
As with all art, photography is a continuing journey of discovery and development and I’m excited to be on it.’
