Black and White Photography Workshop
Saturday the 30th of March was yet another freezing cold morning on the streets of London, but that did not stop our latest group of students and their tutor Ion Paciu taking to the streets of the South Bank for our brand new Black and White Photography workshop
Despite the cold there were plenty of passers by who braved the South Bank market, many of which were more than happy to pose for our students, who got to experience first hand what it is like to capture a moment, guiding a complete stranger and creating an image from scratch.
Ion is an incredibly experienced photographer and his own work in black and white, particularly his People I Didn’t Know project, has given him the tools to instil in his students exactly what is needed to construct the perfect black and white image. Students learned how to visualise the image and were given a good understanding of the use of light and black and white colour balance.
With the first half of the day spent capturing the stunning images that you see in this blog, it was time for the group to step inside out of the cold to the comfort of the Union Jack Club. The second half of the course taught students the crucial steps of post production required to bring their photographs to life.
When used correctly Photoshop can be an extremely powerful tool, here students were taught how to process their images and correctly convert them to black and white using Photoshop’s tools and processes.
This engaging new Black and White Photography course gave its students everything that they need to construct, capture and create beautiful and inspiring black and white photography. As always our students were a pleasure to work with and we look forward to seeing the work that they create in the future.
