Photoion Food Photography Workshop set for November

Despite the thousands of images of food that Instagram has become famous for, being a genuine and organic food photographer takes a lot more than pointing your smartphone camera at whatever meal you are about to devour.

At Photoion Photography School London, we offer a class that will teach you exactly how to capture stunning images of food and really bring them to life; the viewer will be salivating at the mere sight of your image!

Taking place on 2nd November, the food photography workshop will teach you the absolute fundamentals of food photography. The tutors on hand to guide you through the day strive to work hands on with you; we want to make sure you leave the workshop totally at ease with all the elements required to deliver a striking food image.

Equipment and of course, the food itself, is all provided during the food photography workshop and we won’t fill your time with lectures or chat; this is very much about learning the tricks of the trade by working practically and learning the theory as you go along the way.

The food photography workshop course topics covered are:

  • The studio
  • Lighting and equipment
  • Cameras, lenses and light meters
  • Backdrops and props
  • Lighting styles and studio setups

We recommend that people who opt to attend the course have a basic knowledge of camera lenses, aperture, shutter speed and ISO including exposure modes; without this knowledge many elements of the course may not be easy to follow. If you are not at this level yet, starting with our 2 day digital photography for beginners course will get you on the right track before moving up to this class.

If you own a digital SLR or professional compact camera with full manual exposure and telephoto lens, be sure to bring it along with you; this will allow you to become comfortable shooting in this way with your own equipment.

However, if for whatever you can’t bring your own equipment or quite simply don’t have a camera that meets these requirements, we are more than happy for you to use one of our spare semi-professional DSLR cameras, just make sure you let us know before you attend the course so we can get everything set up for you.

Following a fantastic day of shooting and learning the tips, tricks and skills that help to build your confidence as a food photographer, you will leave the course with knowledge that is life long. This isn’t a course for fun, although it is enjoyable; it is a course that provides you with skills that you can use as part of your career as a photographer.

The course runs from 10am to 4pm and costs just £195. Please visit to make your booking.
