One to One Creative Studio Lighting Tuition
As well as offering a wide range of courses and workshops here at Photoion, we also offer our students the opportunity to take advantage of one on one tuition sessions. These intimate sessions are incredibly productive as they can be tailored completely to your needs and abilities.
This Thursday saw former student Valentina Menarini return for a one on one session with Photoion founder Ion Paciu who was accompanied by Tatiana Zigar. Valentina first joined us for a beginner’s class back in 2012 and we are proud to say that she is now capturing beautiful images.
The one on one session was based around our popular Creative Studio Lighting workshop, as Valentina wanted to better understand the use of studio lights and related equipment.
Aside from photography Valentina has a keen interest in fashion, which she is studying in London and Italy. On the day she was accompanied by stylist and friend Elisa, who is a student of the University of the Arts London, the London College of Fashion. The model for the day was the absolutely stunning Carolina Sansoni whose beauty was both striking and unique. We were also joined by hair stylist Jeff who, as you can see from the images in this blog, did an amazing job.
Obviously with Valentina and Elisa’s ties to the world of fashion we were expecting an incredibly stylish shoot and we certainly were not disappointed. The main inspiration for their shoot was timeless beauty and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn, a name that is so synonymous with style and sophistication that we knew that we were going to create something very special.
The girls had certainly done their homework, researching Hepburn’s style, dress cuts, accessories and wardrobe in general, as well as looking at her fantastic selection of famous movies from Roman Holiday and Sabrina to Funny Face and of course Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
As Audrey Hepburn was widely considered to be ahead of her time and dressed in a style that was very modern, Valentina and Elisa experimented with the thought of further modernising her look, adding a futuristic element to their images.
New materials were used such as plastic, which is becoming more and more popular with current fashion trends, and they were mixed seamlessly with vintage clothes from Hepburn’s era. The same approach was taken with accessories too, taking classic, famous items such as the pearl necklace from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and expanding upon them by using contemporary pearl necklaces and body jewellery.
Once again Valentina was a delight to work with, and as you will see from the images in this blog she took to the creative use of studio lighting like a natural. These one on one workshops are ideal for students such as Valentina who have the drive and vision to create something visually stunning, learning in situation, being tutored every step of the way by a talented and experienced photographer.
Our next Studio Workshop is on the 23rd of February and there are 2 places available. If you would like to book a place on this or any of our photography courses then please click HERE to visit our website.
