On the 8th February Photoion Photography School held a Portrait Photography Workshop 2014 on the South Bank around the Royal Festival Hall on the Festival Terrace.
During the day the weather was crazy rainy, plus it was cold and freezing but out of this weather came the most amazing light as the sun was doing some really cool things during the day!
Our model was the lovely Cheryl during our Portrait Photography Workshop 2014 but we also encountered one street passer by (the black guy in the below image) one of our previous subjects that our Master Trainer Ion Paciu photographed on the street some time ago, so he had no escape! He ended up in front of our cameras despite his efforts to get away. We all were pleased with the results.
The image was taken outdoor using only natural light and a metal pillar as a reflector.
One of the students preparing for an indoor portrait image and learning how to guide the model.
For the Portrait Photography Workshop 2014 we had 4 students, 2 of them were recurring students that had previously done some of our courses. As a group we explored the portrait photography area which included all types of portrait styles explained: lifestyle, environmental, story telling, head and shoulder, etc. We used natural / environmental light indoors and outdoors, we also explored some good outdoor opportunities for enhancing the natural lights such as natural reflectors but we also used portable reflectors provided by Photoion Photography School.
We had some great fun and Ion Paciu snapped a couple of group shots of the students too including the model, for the group shot this time we used smoke, there is always at least 1 smoke grenade in Ion Pacius’ bag, the students were thrilled – we had so much fun!
